Junior Inspecting Officer Eligibility Criteria
- The should be able to read, Write, and Speak in Bengali is an essential requirement but such knowledge is not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali unless specifically mentioned. Such ability will be tested at the time of the Interview.
- Candidates with average or poor performance in the knowledge of the Bengali test shall be liable to be canceled.
Education Qualification
- Junior Inspecting Officer Education Qualification is A diploma in Electrical Engineering from the State Council for
Engineering and Technical Education or its equivalent.
N.B.
- Candidates appointed to the post of Junior Inspecting Officers
shall be required to obtain an Electrical Supervisors Certificate of
Competency under rule 45 (1) of the Indian Electricity Rules, 1956 for
parts 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 11 within two years from the date of their
respective appointment. Failure to obtain such a certificate within that
period shall render the candidate liable to be discharged from service.
Age Limit:
- Age should not be more than 39 years as of 01.01.2023, relaxable for candidates
otherwise well–qualified and experienced.
- Age limit is also relaxable in cases of SC/ST and certain
other reserved candidates as per rules.

Information: The prescribed qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not
entitle applicants to be called for the interview. Where the number of applications received in
response to the advertisement is large and it is not conveniently possible for the Commission to
interview all the applicants, the Commission may restrict the number of candidates to be called
for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of either higher qualifications/ higher
marks/grade obtained in the essential qualifications or experience in relevant field higher than
the minimum prescribed in the advertisement or on the basis of a Screening Test.

Application Fees
- Application Fees for Junior Inspecting Officer Recruitment is Rs.160/-
- S.C./S.T. candidates of West Bengal and Persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) having physical
disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. OBC candidates of West Bengal are,
however, required to pay the usual fee as aforesaid.
- NO EXEMPTION OF FEE IS AVAILABLE TO S.C./S.T.
CANDIDATES OF OTHER STATES. No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be held in
reserve for any other examination.
Salary
- According to Level-12 Pay Scale: Rs. 35,800/- – Rs. 92,100/- is Junior Inspecting Officer Salary with Basic Pay: 35,800/- + HRA: 4296/- ( 12% of Basic pay) +DA: 2148( 6% Till Now) + Medical: 500/- + Monthly Gross Salary: 42,744/-
Junior Inspector Syllabus
The Junior Inspector syllabus includes subjects of Reasoning, General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.
As per the JCI Junior Inspector exam pattern, a total of 100 objective questions are to be asked for 01 mark each. The exam duration is 90 minutes.
